Canned Dog Food for Sale (Hong Kong)

Does your dog feel bored eating dry dog food?  Dry food is made using extrusion process, in which high pressure and high temperature are applied to make the raw material into kibble.  In this process, some nutrients will be lost and food flavor could change.  Pet food manufacturers usually add vitamins and minerals back and spray the food with oil in the last step.  In comparison, canned food is less processed than dry food and retain more natural nutrients.  Canned dog food also has higher meat content than dry dog food.  Due to its air-tight packaging, canned food can be stored longer than dry food.  For those who don't like to drink water, the broth and the moisture of canned food can help dogs to take in more water, which is good for urinary tract health.  Canned dog food is a good supplemental diet to dry kibble by adding more nutrients and more varieties and by improving palatability of kibble.  Another option is to add dog treats to dry food for the same purpose.

However, wet dog food is more expensive than dry dog food.  Once the can is opened, it needs to be stored in refrigerator.  Canned food can be stored in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.  You can serve the refrigerated portion by letting it stand in room temperature for 30 minutes. or put the bowl in hot water for 10-15 minutes, or warm it in the oven at low temperature.  The idea is to warm the refrigerated food but not to cook it.  We do not recommend feeding cold food to dogs and cats as this may cause digestive upset.

Canned food should be taken away if it is not eaten in 1 hour.  The moisture level in canned food favors bacterial growth especially in hot weather.
